JoJo the dog had been through a lot and was in a bad way when she was eventually found.

But her story has a happy ending – thanks to an unknown benefactor.

Bri Burnett was on her way home from work in Sweetwater, Texas, when she received a text from a friend with a picture of a dog she had spotted near Lake Trammell. It was clear from the picture that the dog was in desperate need of help.Covered in porcupine quills

Instead of heading home, Bri went straight to her friend’s house to see if she could help the dog. There she found JoJo the dog, who was not only homeless and clearly in need of a good meal but covered in porcupine quills.Bri knew that JoJo needed medical attention if she was to survive.

*excuse the annoying mom voice🤦🏻‍♀️* but this makes my heart so happy. 😭 She’s starting to show more personality and act like a dog with a life again🥰

“Her entire mouth and head was full of quills. She couldn’t swallow because of all the swelling,” Bri told Liftable.“I just think it’s our responsibility just to look out for people or animals that are in misery or hurting and so it was just kind of a no-brainer for me, I just knew it was the right thing to do,” said Bri Burnett. JoJo was clearly frightened but Bri earned her trust enough to get her into the car and she rushed her to the vet.Bri told the Western Journal that the dog was given anesthesia so all the quills could be removed.“He kept her overnight and I was able to pick her up that next afternoon. It took him over 45 minutes to remove all the quills,” Bri said. The rescuer footed the bill herself, according to KTAB-TV.Looks like summer days at the lake are a must from now on💕🙌🏻 #lifewithJoJo

Multiple attempts were made to try and locate JoJo’s owner but it seems that the information on her microchip was no longer valid.Bri then posted an ad on Facebook to try and find her four-legged friend a new home.Haylee Stewart stepped forward fascinated with JoJo’s story and expressed an interest in giving her a home. When Haylee and JoJo finally met it was love at first sight; JoJo immediately started licking Haylee’s hand and she knew that JoJo had to be her dog.Bri was thrilled that JoJo had the loving owner she deserved after such an ordeal.

Welcome to the family JoJo. My duo, just became a trio! 😍💕

She turned around, expecting to see one of her roommates — but instead, a gray-faced pit bull stood quietly in the doorway, staring up at her like he’d been invited. For a moment, she froze. The dog looked worn out and dusty, his fur matted from the outside world. But there was something gentle in his eyes — a look that asked for nothing more than kindness. A Surprise Visitor Walks Through the Door Kayla crouched down, softly speaking to him. He wagged his tail, stepped forward, and leaned his head into her hands as if they’d known each other forever.
