In many shelters across the country, it’s not uncommon for pet owners to give up their dogs.
People occasionally return or abandon their pets for a variety of reasons, such as a family member’s allergies, financial struggles, housing restrictions on pets, or sometimes due to sheer indifference.
A rescue group in the Dallas area was particularly taken aback when they received a dog named Hattie. Back in 2018, her previous owners left her at a local shelter, and at that time, Hattie had a significant tumor growing on her left side.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the rescue team knew the tumor had to be removed. They brought Hattie to Vet Ranch, a facility dedicated to providing veterinary care to abandoned animals.
Remarkably, the veterinary experts at Vet Ranch succeeded in removing the massive tumor, which astonishingly weighed 15 pounds—almost half of Hattie’s total body weight!

Now free from the “bean bag” of a tumor that once burdened her, Hattie is able to move with much more ease. Though she faces some ongoing health issues, she enjoys a happy and fulfilling life, surrounded by the love and care she deserves.
